Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
one way to speed up folding a bit is to use the console version instead of the graphical/screen saver.
another way is (if you have a hyperthreaded p4) make sure HT is enabled and run 2 clients (by using a -local flag in the command line, using different machine ids, and 2 different f@h folders.
another very effective way to speed up folding is to get more comps running it
but im sure you'll learn all about that once you get........... the bug
in the shortcut for the console version right click (assuming you dont have a mac) and go to properties. in the command line put " -local" without the quotes after everything else
I am going to the folks this weekend and was wondering how do you load the console version on XP, I have never used XP and that is what dad's comp has on it. Does it down load and run like it does on Linux, or do you have to do anything else. I would want to set it up to do timeless tinkers because it is not on but six hours a day, week days and that way i wont have to worry about deadlines.
What are the basic steps to do this ?
I really don't mean to steal your thread, I figured that those who know the XP setup can help us both. and save doing it twice
...and you don't even have to reboot if you just go in and start the service manually. If you run the command line client from a directory that's already been configured with an older version of the client, you can get to the configuration settings by putting the -config switch at the end of the command line when you run it, then you can have it install the service (or remove it later).
