Hexus X1900XT/XTX review!

very Kyro II bias if I must say so ...

Like to see other reviews for comparison

Looks like ATi isnt going to let nVidia sit on it laurels ...yay for competition!

Best review out so far.. Well... the best of the 2

We should see reviews pop up everywhere in the next few hours. Yay! But I gotta go to bed... :(

*Sets alarm hour early.* :D

Edit: Woah, they are using the 6.2 Drivers!!!

in that review i'm very suprised they weren't able to lower the termals at all on the X1900, i was hoping they would be able to do it :(

oh well no big deal, kind of a weak review, hoping for a more indepth one

I had a Kyro II card, it was the worst piece of hardware I ever bought.

Ouch! I loved my Hercules KyroII card. I didn't replace it till the Radeon 8500 came out. Had to swap the cards a couple times to notice a difference in performance. Wish ST Micro was still making competative cards...

Maybe other games aren't as shader intensive, therefore wouldn't make the X1900 flex its muscles.

But yeah, I think they could have used the beta Far Cry patch allowing for HDR and AA, that would have been nice.

NDA lifts in only a few more hours... :)

Why don't any reviews use HDR + AA in serious sam 2!!! This quote from [H] crossfire review pissed me off :p:

"This game does support HDR and both cards are capable of rendering it, but it doesn’t provide a large visual difference in the game. Furthermore, since the GeForce 7800 GTX can’t support it with AA, we decided to crank up the AA as much as possible instead and forgo HDR."

They skipped over it cuz the nvidia card didnt support it? They didnt even cover 8xAA and 14xAA. blah , but this is another matter.

wow did that lack any real content.

what i did take from this review is with a few driver releases this card is going to be a monster.

OMG, I can't wait for easy-to-read, correct, and useful [H] views...

I think it proved what we thought. In games where your more ALU bound, the 1900 flexed its muscles. Look how much faster it was in Fear to the 512mb GTX even though the 1900 has lest fill rate and mb!!!! In other games like Q4 where thats not the case, they should that the two were close... They had tried COD2 but had issues and given the time frame could not get them resloved... This was a good review...

[H] reviews are ok, but I'm not a fan of their "best playability" benchmarks.

I cant wait for a 30 page all games in one test xbit labs review :D no one comes close, plus theyre unbiased... also im sure [H] will say gtx512 is the better card and make no mention of its unavailabilty and stupid price.. wanna bet? ;)

And they will probably skip HDR + AA again because nVidia doesn't support it. :p

Agreed on all points.

Waiting for the [H] and a couple others. I think that at the moment without real drivers for this card its going to win by tiny margins. I will take the first results with a grain of salt as I did with the X1800XT benchies.

Agreed.

I've always hated the fact that reviewers for some strange reason decide NOT to include certain settings just because the competition doesn't support it... I mean, wtf are you reviewing the hardware for in the first place if you wont show people a thorough write up of what to expect from the product they are purchasing?

IF the competition does not support certain things, then don’t include the competition… I couldn’t care less if you don’t cuz you are reviewing this product and not the competitions product and im sure people would like to see all of this products features and performance rather than just skipping it.

I get really annoyed when i see only 4x AA and 8XAF on ATI cards as if that’s the only settings they support or vise versa for NV.

Why is it so hard to test everything on the highest settings possible with HDR + AA or what have you to see if the newer games are playable?? That’s what it comes down to right?

If you have tight time constraints then for fucks sakes don’t bother posting the review till its finished. Or if they don’t give you enough time with the card than tell em to go fuck themselves and don’t depreciate peoples purchasing decisions.
