I went to re-apply my AS5 because i was getting high temps because i applied it wrong. So I take the cpu out and apply it like the site tells me too, put everything back the way it was, and now when i try to boot it it says "CPU is unworkable or has been changed. Please recheck - CPU SOFT MENU" on the BIOS flash screen. I have a Abit IC7-G with a P4 2.66g. Can anyone help?

Ignore Wordomouf123 --- I don't see any reason one would be such an ass to another person on the forums without any provocation.
Anyway, have you tried resetting the bios on your motherboard?
or have you been able to get into the bios to see what its coming up as?

Look man, you and I both know post count doesn't mean anything around here now, so theres no need to be flaming people or being rude to make you name Gawd. You've been around long enough, so I don't know what your problem is tonight, but in any case, you know where to find the rules. Go refresh yourself on them before you say something and get banned.

It seems to be a good sign that you see the post screen. In the past, if my CPU was dead, all I'd see is a black screen. Doesn't it give you the option of going into the BIOS menu? If so, just go in, make sure everything is good, save, and get out.

Hope that helps

definately try to get into the Bios. I had a similar problem on my AI7 a while back but it was with a 2.4b. All I had to do was go back into Bios and re-save the settings. Worked fine after that.

an WTF is up with wordomouf123???? Instead of crapping in someone else's thread, you should go fart on someone's breakfast. It's much more personable, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results.

after correctly setting up your cpu in bios the error goes away?

You get the CPU Unworkable... message if you remove the CPU from the socket and replace it.

Just reset the BIOS by setting hte CMOS jumper from pins 1-2 to 2-3 with the power off. Leave the jumper in reset for about a minute before moving it back to 1-2.

I use the ABit IC7-G too, and I get that message too when I remove the CPU to change thermal paste coatings.
