First off, I know it's "temporarily out of stock", but still: http://www.ecost.com/Detail.aspx?edp=53998100&navid=155441519

and I read this on another forum:

I've learned a valuable lesson about purchasing monitors.

Go on ebay, ask lots of dead pixel and return policy questions to everything you even have the slightest interest in bidding on, and then make sure it's an S-IPS monitor. Example, search Dell 2007 FPW or WFP or whatever.. it's one of the two.. one is 2005 FPW and the other is 2007 WFP i think. If you want something bigger, 2407 WFP. If you search for that one specifically, make sure the panel serial number ends in L, thus the panel was made by LG and is S-IPS. If it ends in S, it was made by Samsung and is.. whatever the other one is that isnt IPS or TN-TFT. It's around $200 and the color quality/no light leaks is SOOOOOOOOOO much better. New, an S-IPS monitor is like $700.. so don't waste your time there, just go to ebay. It worked out fine for me.. they're nearly all refurbs but they work just fine. The only problem is that since they're old, the contrast ratios are kinda egh.. whites aren't bleached blinding white, but it's probably for the better that way.

So, the main thing about this link I found is that I'm not positive that this is an S-IPS...can anyone tell me, or would the next step be to just email the guys?

Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

The only way to tell is to power on the monitor and open the service menu. There's no revision that guarantees you an S-IPS panel. I've got 3 of them, and it took some doing. That's a smokin deal though. :)

Hmm...I'll check out their return policy and take a stab at it...thanks :D

The one thing to watch for, is to make sure you don't get an A01 revision. Odds are good they're not selling anywhere retail anymore, but 100% of them IPS/PVA all had a bad banding issue.

I doubt that they'll come back in stock at that price. If they do... [H]otdeal!

Alright, thanks.

Word...I'm keepin a watch out

Serial numbers ending in L are IPS and serial numbers ending in S are PVA panels.
