Looking for recommended brands to buy and to avoid. Mine is 300w but I need more power.

Any info is really appreciated.

I'm running an AMD T-bird 1ghz. Have four HDDs. A 200g, 80g, and 2 - 20gigs along with a CD and CD-RW drive. With other basics...video card, floppy, etc.

PC Power & Cooling makes the best power supplies. They are expensive though.

I would go with the Antec True Power line as a less expensive, high quality option.
 
PC Power & Cooling are hands-down the best PSUs.

Also, if possible, the best rule of thumb for buying PSUs is to judge by their weight. Heavier PSUs usually have more conditioning circuitry and heatsinks/cooling apparati.
 
Fortron and Antec TruePower are the two best options if you don't want to spend $100+ for a PSU from PC P&C.
