I just received a mobile 2400+ from Newegg, stepping AQYFA 0343 (I know, it's a crappy stepping and I was hoping for better). Anyways, I put it into my computer, and I put it as a 3200+ with 1.575v. I then booted into windows and ran Prime95. A couple of minutes into Prime, a windows message popped up saying that Prime needed to close because it was nonresponsive. I told it to close, because I figured that it must not be stable. I then turned off my computer and turned my speed down to 1.7ghz with 1.45v. When I tried to boot into windows, it would show the windows loading screen (the one after the bios with the Windows icon and the moving bar), and then my screen would flicker at the point that the mouse pointer usually would appear. However, the mouse pointer didn't appear, and the screen stayed blank for a few moments, and then the computer rebooted. I tried for hours tweaking the different BIOS settings, including changing the processor speeds and such, but nothing worked. I couldn't get into windows. It would hang at the place I mentioned earlier every time.
Well, I want to know what I should do. I tried running chkdsk, and it found some errors and fixed them, and I also reset my CMOS a couple of times. I even took off my heatsink and redid the Arctic Silver. What is wrong? Should I flash to a different BIOS? I am currently using Abit's D21 bios. Maybe it doesn't like the mobile. I don't think that the fsb is the issue, because I tried multiple FSBs. Do I need to reinstall Windows? Should I flash my bios by floppy using tic tac's bios (it's a bios for the ABIT NF7-S that has many mods that fix various things such as the 10x multiplier issue)?
Help me please.
