Hi. I'm new to the forums, and was hoping you guys could help me out with a pretty annoying problem.

I have 2 hard drives. One for system files, and programs, and the other for storage for music, videos, pictures. My system HDD is ok. My storage HDD has a problem with storage of pictures and movies.

They will transfer and save fine, but over time, some pics will become corrupted, and not display anything. I tried file recoverers, but they only recover a corrupt file. My movies will also become corrupted, or become overwritten with other videos.

Possible causes I think may be responsible:

Many downloads from limewire
Problem seems to get worse when defragging
Occasionally startup will display a screen saying something like "recovering orphaned file"
I may have plugged the HDD in wrong. I have no jumper.

I was planning on saving my ok files to dvd then reformatting, but I would love to not do that, and possibly recover some of my family photos.

What do you guys think? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
