Bear with me it's been a LONG time since I had to figure this stuff out.

I have a fanbus, and it works quite effectively to run my fans at about 8v to cool the system, and the only thing I can hear is the HDD. There is a problem though. The 120mm fans run fine on 8v, but need about 10 to spin up.
I can:
1) Turn them all up to boot, and adjust them all back to where I want them. PITA
2) Put in a swith that will feed them 12v to start then switch them back to the fanbus. Still a PITA
3) Add a/some capacitor(s) to hit the circuit with enough voltage to start the fans then back off them again.

I really want to do #3. Help me out.

Ive seen a guide for #3 ill look for it.

EDIT: I found this in the Cool Cases section under the mod FAQ. Its for 7V though.

If your fan will not start at 7V it may need a higher starting voltage: try this circuit which gives the fan +12 until the cap charges, then goes down to 7v
