Ok i have an MSI 6590 motherboard and an Athlon XP 1700+ on my other system, it was working fine untill i transferd it to a new case.

In this new, smaller case the heatsink fan was flat against the PSU wall, so it was sucking against a flat surface to try and push air down onto the heatsink.

Well the machine loaded fine and got through the blue "copying windows files" section of a windows xp install, then rebooted to complete the install but didnt even boot up the bios screen.

So i opened the case and was hit by a waft of hot air, the heatsink was boiling! well, not boiling, but it was "just to hot to touch" if you get me. Anyway i cooled the thing down as fast as i could with a desktop fan blowing air into the case.

I took off the heatsink and the chip looks perfectly fine, no scar mark, disscolourations or other problems. So i gave the whole system a once over, and transferd it back to its old case.

The system is cool in its new case but still wont show anything on the screen! its almost as if there is no bios or anything.

PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME :S:S:S!

Have you cleared CMOS? Try to find a clear CMOS jumper, or if all else fails, take the battery out for 15 minutes or so and then put it back in...

Does it do anything at all, try to reseat HSF, make sure memory is seated correctly, and reset your CMOS... If you have another processor use that to check your setup.

I cleard the CMOS, no diffrence.

I dont have a spare CPU to test it either

I double checked everything and its slotted in aok and no unusual signs.

Looks like somates blown :(
