Help setting up AV-710 in Linux!

Can anyone give me a step by step run-through on how to install the ALSA driver for my Chaintech AV-710 in Linspire? This is the first time i've ever used Linux and I have no idea how to do it. I have downloaded the latest ALSA driver but I don't know what to do next. I feel like such a noob :p
