Ok a friend of mine is running an emachines t1742. And it randomly goes to sleep sometimes right when windows starts and sometimes 30 min later. Ive ran memtest and it checked out, ran ad aware, spybot, and trend mircos online virus checker. It isnt over heating at al either. I turned off all hibernation and power save modes but it still does it. Any suggestions? Thanks again. Oh also there is no sleep or hibernate button on the machine or keyboard and once it goes to sleep it wont wake back up, i have to restart.

check the bios, sometimes there are power saving options and harddrive sleeping options in there as well as keys required to bring it back from sleep

Sleep? Like suspend mode? It should wake up after you move mouse etc... Unless your friend has some funny BIOS setting on, but I doubt an emachine would have that. If I had to guess, I'd say a hardware defect of some kind.
