I need some serious help fast. Have an ABIT IC7 Max3. My BIOS is very corrupted. I don't know how it happened, but I have to fix it and I don't know how. Can I do it without getting into windows? Thanks for the help.

Couldn't you just make a boot floppy from another PC with a new BIOS on it...and re-flash?

can your reflash it?
if not, i bet some one on here (if you asked nicly and had a paypal acct) would hotflash a bios chip for you

Can you get to the POST Screen, were it shows your CPU/RAM/HDD Information?

OK, i need to make the disk bootable, but i can't fit the flash files and the boot disk files on the same disk, and I've only got 1.....don't ask why. Anyway, my roomates computer is running xp and is giving me all sorts of files I don't need, but no command.com or anything. Where can I download a bootable disk?

http://bootdisk.com/ :p
In xp there is also a way to format it as a bootible disk, but I am on a nix box atm so I cant help you much.

so i got a boot disk, got the bios on a disk, tried to run it, but when it ran, it got hung up cause the bios didn't last long enough. So I have to try again. But everytime I have to reboot, i have to wait like 10 minutes for the bios to cool off or something so it will actually boot. Pray that it will run fast enough this time.

For anybody that has done this before: how long does it take? It is just sitting at "Please wait" forever. The floppy light is on, but i'm not sure.

OH, and if people have any other ideas besides it being a bios problem, i'm happy to entertain them.

You have to wait for your BIOS chip to cool?
That's not right at all...if I'm understanding you correctly.

I'm not sure what it is. If I reboot to soon, it does the beep thing. If I wait for 5 minutes, it won't and I get the small window to do whatever. What problems do you think.

my sisters computer does that, but since the BIOS chip is soltered right to the board it can't be fixed.

Usually she can get it to restart after one mis-start though. And she has put up with it for a couple years:rolleyes: without problems.

I've done about six or seven BIOS updates and several hot flashes. The BIOS updates usually last from 2 to 5 min.

Is you chip socketed.

If it is and you can't get it fixed, you can try here:

http://www.badflash.com/

one other thing use the basic boot disk (Dr. Dos whatever), no need to have a WIN variant disk.

I have fixed it.....thanks to Kei00000. Had to reset the CMOS jumpers cause I had gotten some error that I made nothing of at the time. Anyway, its fixed. No problems.....anymore!
