Motherboard: MSI Z68MA-G45

No GPU, using intel HD 3000 graphics

Running a resolution of 1920x1200 with a Dell 2407WFP-HC, connected through a VGA cable

It happens at all resolutions...

Inside Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel it displays the correct monitor, resolution, and refresh rate of 59Hz

Any ideas whats causing the shaky/stutter of the screen?
 
change the refresh rate to 60hz, even if windows says its not available. i have the same problem every time i install a new nvidia driver it always defaults my 24" display to 59hz and annoys the crap out of me.
 
I have the options of 59hz and 60hz...changing between the two did not correct the problem

I switched the cable from VGA to DVI and the problem was fixed...

BUT...I cannot use DVI, I need to use VGA

any ideas?

Can you elaborate on why you can't use DVI? It should be superior in every regard, including fixing this problem.

Something else is hooked up with DVI, I would have to switch it everytime I used the computer

Also I would like to know why VGA doesnt work
 
Any other cables running next to your vga cable? Is it a long cable? Try another cable, has fixed problems like this for me running long through a KVM.

I have only seen that 59hz bug happen on a couple sets of drivers. even at 59hz, it does not shake the screen or have any other noticeable impact like the OP is having.
 
I was having other problems (unrelated problems) and I reset the BIOs...

I started up and loaded windows via VGA, was shaky for a bit, now it is completely gone..

-.-...no idea

Sounds like your cable is bung.

We get 80m+ before retiming/splitting boxes are required at concerts, so generally if you have issues like what you are describing, it is the cable or very poor shielding/damaged shielding. My money is on the cable with how random it is and what you describe.

If that doesn't fix it start looking into memtest, check psu voltages then cpu/mobo.

Also if you don't have a spare vga cable handy and have some time to kill for something that probably won't work, try making sure VGA cable is crossed at right angles by any other cable, this can reduce possible inductance/interference.
 
What is the max res available with VGA ? After I sold my 6970 I tried running on the Intel 3000 for a short bit, it wouldn't even do 1680x1050, when selected it would say "not enough bandwidth", didn't matter how much mem I dedicated in the bios. It would only let me have the 4:3 ratios, even though the 16:9 were listed
