help my HD is broken

First off I have an IBM DeskStar 120GB 7200RPM HD. I can get you the exact model # if it makes a difference.

I did a little research and my HD has the "click of death" syndrome. It was working fine up until yesterday, then it got progressivly worse with the clicking and now I think it is done for. Fourtantly, I backed up all the important data. I think it is bad data sectors on my HD, but doesn't a program like scandisk or chkdsk find bad sectors and fix the HD? Is their anyway I can run this utility from the WindowsXP boot CD or can I get a free 3rd party utility that will mark the sectors as bad and not have the HD use them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The HD is about 2.5 years old and I don't have the recipt. Any chance I could get IBM to replace it?
