First system, upgrade it to a 6800GT.
You don't really need a combo cdrw/dvdrom on that, as your plextor will burn regular CDs as well as DVDs. If you want two optical drives, just get your plextor dvdrw and then a dvdrom.

How much ram is on the first system?

What's the best price now on 6800GT's ?
 
Check Newegg. eVGA is a good one, $399 on the evga site. I think they're back ordered at the moment though.
 
I have the same ram, Corsair Value Select DDR400.
It's good ram. Very fast, but I can only get CAS 2.5 out of it. Which is fine, there is VERY little difference between CAS 2 and CAS 2.5, so don't worry about that. You'd be lucky to get 1-2% performance difference.

In short: Yes, your ram is good.
