I cant make up my mind which of the two packard bell systems to pick (building one myself is not an option) maybe you can help me out. the price is pretty much identical.

pc1: Intel Dual-Core E5300, 2,6GHz 2MB L2
pc2: AMD Athlon 64 LE-1660, 2,8GHz 512KB L2

pc1: busspeed 800 MHz
pc2: HT3

pc1: chipset Nvidia MCP73VE
pc2: chipset Nvidia MCP78-PV

pc1: dedicated gxfmem 512mb
pc 2: dedicated gfxmem 256MB

pc1: shared gfxmem up to 2305 MB
pc2: shared gfxmem up tol 1535MB

pc1: ATI HD4350 512 MB
pc2: GeForce 9200 256MB

pc1: 2gb ram
pc2: 4gb ram

pc1: 320gb hd
pc 2: 750gb hd

What are you going to be using the computer for? At this point I would probably just pick pc2 because it has more ram and a larger hard drive and it seems like you are less inclined to DIY ventures should you want to upgrade.

I will use it for 80% work and surfing like creating websites, blogs, read forums that kind of thing. 15% watching 720p tv-series and movies. 5% gaming (mostly older stuff)

I can see the benefit of more ram and a bigger HD, from what I understand the first pc got a better processor and gfxcard, whether the difference in REALITY is a lot I dont know (and if it would make a big difference for my needs) I suspect for someone interested in gaming neither one of them would do the job very well.

Something doesn't seem right.
pc1: ATI HD4350 512 MB
pc2: GeForce 9200 256MB
The E5300 shoul have the GeForce 9200 256MB which would be on board video. Here its calling for the E5300 to have the ATI? Is that correct? and the Athlon to have the Geforce 9200 -yeah something isn't right. Maybe a Geforce 9400?

That really doesn't help me help you. Where did the ads come from?

I personally would choose the first PC due to the stronger processor and under the assumption that the HD4350 mentioned is an actual, physical video card. But unlike you, I'd probably decide on upgrading the RAM and HDD of that machine as soon as I could. If you don't want to touch anything, then the second PC has more RAM and more storage space for you to use immediately.

We could really benefit from knowing what your intended use is for the computer and your budget.

If no upgrades are possible, which OS? If XP, then PC1. Else, If Vista/7, then PC2.
