well, i just moved from San Antonio to Va.

Timewarner cable(earthlink) to Cox Cable high speed.
Earthlink is not available in VA so I sign up for Cox and downgraded my earthlink to 10 hr/mo dialup. I want to keep my email addy.

So i get connected on cox and can receive but NO Send on earthlink.

so i contact tech support and they send me list of blocked ports and 25 outbound is blocked if not from cox domain.

so i think for a minute and then come up with the idea of changing my outdoing server from earthlink to the cox one. and Badaammmm it WORKS!

Now my question is... will this raise any alarms at cox? have any of you done this? I need someone who has worked with pop servers.

Are there any disadvantages or things i need to keep in mind with this solution???

thanks

Shouldn't be a problem, you're paying for Cox's service, and since they're blocking traffic on port 25 (to prevent people from using other mail servers) they should have no trouble with you using theirs.
