I am completly noob with ocing a cpu. someone give me a hand ?
 
There is a really good sticky in this forum topic. Check it out, it has all the best layman's terms and is broken down well. I plan on using the guide with my Q6600 build.
 
Ok I am not completly noob but i dont known what i am doing wrong.
I set fsb to 1400
memory to 800 44412
and auto voltage

but if i get higher than 2.45 its unstable and i get random freezes
 
My sites got exactly how I got to 2.8GHz. That is by no means a big overclock, and I went far beyond it. I now have quite a larger overclock going on now. You can give it a read if you like. One total noob to another. It's a different mobo, but the concept is the same.

Like I said though I kinda fumbled my way through it the best I could, I have bios screens and descriptions of what values I used. I've got to go in through it with the proper values shown eventually. But The most important part of OC'ing is always research research research. Find as much reading as you can related to your parts to see what you can expect and what settings to use. Just my thoughts.

Here is my little notes on overclocking. I doubt they'll be much help but it's at least basic.

ps.I am using a stock cooler and on 2.45 i am having 42degress gaming temp. so i shouldnt be worried about temos right ?
