Help me get my HTPC working!

And yet it's not going to stop cause thats exactly what he needs. Theres no magic wand to wave around to make it all better with what he's got now. Hell, I picked up a 6600GT in the FS/FT forums for $50. He sure as hell can find something just as good for around the same price, theres no excuse and theres no way I can make slow hardware work perfectly fine with HD playback.

It's that simple.

Any recommendations on a good card that will work with MCE, Hauppauge and avermedia nicely? I am just scared of getting an ati again since I use the purevideo decoder. Let me know so I can start looking.

NV- if you can find a 128-bit 6200 that would work, the 64-bit version *might* but I'm not too sure about that. I'd look for something like a 5700U or higher but preferably a 6600 AGP card because it has some Purevideo features and better DX9 handling (which helps when you're letting the video card handle some of the decoding).

But really, just put up a WTB thread down there and see who bites.

"WTB: AGP card better then 9600" or something like that.

Alright, I will start looking in the deals subforum here. If anyone is selling of of these, shoot me a PM.

Anything else I should upgrade? I heard complaints of ram earlier. Any suggestions?

For the most part the ram is okay, 512 isn't the best for handling HD but it should work.

If you decide to just get something new then one of these will work fine:

I would try and stay under the $80 mark for a new card, at that point you might as well just pony up the rest of the cash and get that 7600GS.

I've got MCE and the X1300pro card and it runs HD on my setup like a champ. Good luck in getting the card and I hope this solves your problems...
