i want to mod my case with cool cables that light up.

few questions though.
- is it bad to have cables that light up in anyway? does it affect performance?
- do the lights stay on when the comps off?
- how long do most the lights live for?
- which colors go best with blue leds?

i may also buy 2 80mm led fans to replace the 2 80mms i have, which would u recommend?

Not at all.

Not usually. They might if you keep your computer on stand-by, though.

- how long do most the lights live for?

Depends. EL wire lasts for about 10k hrs. LED's last anywhere from 25k to 50k hrs. Cathodes last around 10k hours. Those are full service times (so about 12hrs a day, if your computer is off for the other 12).

- which colors go best with blue leds?

Depends on your tastes. Orange and blue look good. As does green or yellow.

so u think they will last a few years? also can u guys tell me what i need pin connectors, sata cable, ata cable, what else?
 
If you want to light up your power cables too, I'd suggest these. They slip in between the pins on your molex connectors and look awesome.
