Hi, im having a problem with my computer i keep getting a stupied blue screen error "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" , i have a MSI K7N2-L with the built in audio amd 3200 XP 1gb OCZ 4000 ram g4 ti4800, i determined that the problem is with my sound cause once i disable my sound, like disable the hardware it works fine and no freezing, no blue screen, i tryed and got all the most recent drivers but still no luck, so i chaged my sound card to a sb ex plat, and the problem still occurs, any idea what i can do? computer usually freezes when i run a load on it like counter-strike, or even starcraft in about probably 40 mins... any idea's of what i could do
 
I'm betting it is a driver issue. Or a bad card. Definitely a hardware or software issue.
 
yea, but why whould i have 2 hardware problems on 2 differnt cards ones intergraded other one is PCI, unless something is wrong with my mobo, but thats not likely is it?
think maybe it might be a windows issuse and i might have to format?
 
Do you have both sound cards enabled? I mean do you have your on board sound card enabled at the same time you use your PCI sound card? If so, then that is your problem. If not, then its probably a hardware or software issue.

Edit: Disable it in BIOS.

Very insightful... at least we can rule out the Moon's gravitational pull or the shoes that he is wearing.

Having 2 sound cards at the same time is not a problem. I have been doing it for over a year. I do it so I can independantly adjust the volume on teamspeak while playing games.

I would try to disable the onboard sound in the BIOS though. Also completely uninstall the sound drivers and related software and reboot without either sound card installed. Then install the sound card (maybe try another PCI slot) and try again.
 
i disabled it through windows via, just going to hardware profiles and uninstalling it, but not from the bios... ill try that before i format my computer... but if the problem still occurs... should i just hope that the format will slove it...cause if it dont that mean its got to be a mobo problem right?
