I just bought the $80 combo from frys, (the 2500+ amd barton and the ECS Elitegroup k7vta3 motherboard) and i want to overclock to 3200+ show i was wondering what i should get to do this. I am getting a Aspire X-Dreamer II ATX Mid-Tower Case with 350W Power Supply,With Window, Model "ATXB4KLW-BK/350 case and that is about all i know. Please help. Also i dont want to spend over $600. my goal is to only spend like $500.

I got to keep the board because thats the reason i got the deal and because i am strapped for cash. I know the board is shit but i need help on what i can do with it to make it go to 3200+

Get a different motherboard is the first step. Then get some decent RAM (Corsair XMS, Mushkin Special 222, PC3200 speeds), some nice cooling.

I'm not really sure what your asking here, but I wouldn't build a system for overclocking with an ECS board in it.

very nice;) that case should proivude good airflow, lol i would know. Ok what you need to do is one get a hard drive, good ram preferably pc 3200,and a video card. When your computer turn onmfor the first time bios is introduced. Bios is actually what runs your computer not the operating system:p. So boot up, hit DEL key and it will take you into the bios menu, u will see somewhere system bus 166 to get to 3200+ speeds u simply need to go in small increments 168-170-172 etc until u find a point at which your computer is no longer stable, its almost guaranteed you will hit 200 fsb with good ram u can most definetly blow past that.

I skipped quite a few steps and anyone other [H]members can fill in the rest, its just hard to type with a 4 month year old baby sister in one arm drinking a bottle:cool:

woah didn't even see the mobo:(
go wit one of these mobos-

abit nf7-s v. 2
asus nforce 2 deluxe(theres like aynleuxsd or some number sin there somewhere)

Or go with a msi board with a via in it but i recommend the asus or abit and def go nforce2

what kind of overclocks could be expected w/ that ECS board? is it possible to get to 3200+?

I wouldn't even try. I've heard quite a few definitions of ECS, but I've always liked Extremely Crappy & Shitty.

While you can overclock on the ECS, don't count on it being very good for it. I don't think the BIOS gives you access to stuff like CPU voltage and AGP dividers, and that could spell trouble when you're running the PCI bus and AGP out of spec.
