Lian-Li PC60bPLUS Wheel Mod

Hello all,

I am trying to add wheels to my case. Before I put components in, I am thinking of finishing up with my case. Can you guys suggest how I approach this mod? I am yest to find wheels for this mod. Here are the links for case and wheel stand.

Lian Li PC-60BPlus Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
LIAN LI WB-01 wheels - Retail (Even Though it says wheels on newegg.com, I have checked their item description and Lian-Li website that these are Aluminum wheels stands with brake.)

So, my questions are:
1. Where can I find good wheels to go with this?
2. What are the other things that I may need for this mod?
3. I don't think it will be a hard mod, but, this will be my first. So, need advices from you guys.

Well I don't know why you're asking what wheels you should get when you've already found some. Anyway those li-li wheels are found on the V series cases. They're good wheels and I believe they do come with rubber to go on the wheels to prevent slip. Also I'm sure it's not that hard to install either. Drill a few holes and screw them on and you should be set. :)
 
newegg newversion website truly blows...so slow. Anyway, here is the pic of that article WB-01. Did not see the wheels attached below before - my bad. The name of the product was confusing for me. I believe, I have to drill 8 holes in the case to put the screws in...

Assuming they are identical replacements for the V-series cases from Lian-Li they should come with rubber "tires" (sorta). The "tires" are really more like really fat rubber bands or like tank treds from the model tanks we built when we were kids. They're effective, marginally... but after you put everything in the case and get some decent weight sitting on the rubber they work well.

Also, I agree that the new Newegg layout stinks as much as stewed ass. Unless you search for EXACTLY what you're looking for you have to navigate 5 screens just to get to their selection of Lian-Li cases. Total waste of time. If the prices weren't so damned good I'd never shop there again.
 
Any idea what drill bits shall I use to get the job done? I have a pretty lightweight 4.8 amp drill from sears. Will that do the job? The Drill i am talking about is in the link. Got that from sears recently...can go back back and get it replaced if you guys can give a better suggestion.

That'll probably be fine. You're drilling a Lian-Li so even where the aluminum is thickest you're still only drilling aluminum (not mild steel or anything).

Sorry I can't help about the drill size though... order the wheels and check what size holes are on the mounting plate then run out to Home Depot and pick up that one drill (the Home Depot by my house at the moment has a set of decent metal bits for $12.00).

However, as I live in an apartment, I can't undertake a huge modding job unless I can pursue my friend to give up his garage. :mad:

But I am gonna invest more in something that lasts longer than the CPU on which I am spending $200 bucks. So, I have decided to go to sears and replace the craftsman with Dremel 3962-02 Variable-Speed MultiPro Tool Kit from Amazon. Also, I will get me the Dremel 4486 Dremel Chuck.

Amazon has a new one Dremel 3981-01 Digital Tool Kit. I am wondering if I should go with this one or the trusted multipro? Any suggestions there?...again thanx bellacroix.

I'd go with the less expensive Dremel and invest in a good drill. You can get some really nice ones with great torque numbers for not a lot of money from Sears if you're willing to attach yourself to a wall outlet.

As great as Dremels are for grinding intricate shapes or for cutting windows nothing beats a hole saw on a powerful drill for fan holes or for cutting the rounded corners of square windows.

(Heading off smart ass coments early: Yes, I know, a square would not have rounded corners)
 
Well...my first 8 holes wreaked havoc in my abode. My next door neighbor asked me if I had gone mad!! :eek:

My offense: I was drilling 8 test holes on a sheet of aluminum at 12:00 noon on Monday!!! :mad:

I have to now find a parking lot in Faroffistan to poke the holes or find a good machine shop near baltimore, md. btw, anyone knows any m/c shop in this area?

What are you using to drill the holes? Should not be hard at all. Most drill bits will go through metal and aluminum is soft which makes it even easier to drill through.

Maybe the aluminum he was test drilling was actually his neighbor's siding. That's usually not a good place to test your modding skills.
