So I managed to pick up a E8400 + a P35 Gigabyte board cheap from the FS/T forums and I figured I would use it to upgrade the WHS in my sig and a SMP in vmware linux.

This was last week.

Then:-

- Hm, 9600 GSOs are dirt cheap ($50 after MIR for ~4kppd!), lets pick one up.
- Oops, WHS + GPU = fail
- Lets setup the E8400 + P35 + 9600 GSO as a new boxen, leave my WHS be
- Hey, why not Q6600 + P35 instead? Then I can run 2 SMPs!
- Oh, but then I'll have an extra proc. I know! Pick up another mobo, then I can upgrade my WHS AND have a new boxen for more SMP goodness
- (While looking around at mobos) WHOA! Fantastic deal on an ASUS P5Q3 Deluxe available locally (~$140). 3 full speed PCI-e slots FTW!

Now:-
P5Q3 Deluxe + Q6600 + 2GB DDR3 + 9600 GSO (+ 2 more to come!)

Which brings me to my question - will I be able to run GPUs in all 3 PCI-e slots?

Also - how do I get rid of the folding bug?
 
Okay, I need lessons in comprehension. That mobo only supports 2 graphics cards, not 3. Other question about folding addiction still needs to be answered though.
 
This is just me......

Save the $$ for Q6600 and use it for a WHS box and just run SMP on it in the future.

I get the best stability and much less trouble running GPU boxen, and SMP boxen (not mixed ) unless you do VMs

You can put the extra money to getting 4850's or another 9800's if you want to spend it now.


You can get rid of the folding bug....... but life isn't worth living with the fix.

Selling all of you boxen and cutting the power off to the house is about the only way.

Whoosh. Just set it up, running 2 x VM linux SMP and 1 x GPU. Any tips on optimizing PPD?
