I just got a Dell 2407WFP today and the outside of the box and the back of the display shows Rev A04, made in Mexico. I have it connected to my MacBook Pro and I tried going into the display settings and wide mode is grayed out. I can't select it and the display is set to full. How do I change the wide mode? Shouldn't I be able to select it on a rev A04.

When you Wide Mode do you mean the 1:1, Aspect, and Fill is gray out? You get this option you need to set the resolution lower then the native 1920 x 1200. Because at 1920 x 1200 there is nothing to fill. Try setting it to 1680 x 1050.

Ahh.... I see what you mean. When I set it to a lower resolution the wide mode option is available. But 1680 x 1050 wasn't an option. I have it connected to a MacBook Pro laptop. I can select the following:

1920 x 1200
1600 x 1200
1360 x 768
1344 x 1008
1344 x 840
1280 x 1024
1280 x 960 (stretched)
1280 x 960
1280 x 800

It just probably due to Graphic Card and Mac Book aren't capable of the different resolution. If you set anything below the 1920 x 1200, it shouldn't be gray out anymore. Try using the 1600 x 1200.

It's a MacBook Pro with ATI 256MB VRAM. Setting it to 1600 x 1200 worked. I was able to select the wide mode.

I don't quite understand what is going on here...

Why on earth are you setting your MBP to display a lower resolution than the optimal resolution???

I have a G4 powerbook, and it displays 1920x1200 on my A04 dell - your MBP is more than capable of doing that and more. So why are you making everything look worse on your new screen by deliberately putting a lower resolution on?

I changed the resolution to test the 1:1 pixel mapping mode. I wanted to make sure the option is available because I have a PS3. I couldn't test it with my PS 3 yet because I don't have a DVI to HDMI cable yet.

Yes, but the PS3 displays a 1080p resolution, then set your A04 to 1:1 and you'll be sorted.

I still don't understand your thinking about why you want to display at a lower reolution at all. :p

I thought i had to set the resolution lower to use with the PS3. That is why. Now that I had a chance to test it with the PS3 last night, yeah... my question didn't make sense. :)

I have it all sorted out now. I tested the PS3 with HDMI and component set to 1:1 pixel mapping. I think the PS3 looks much better on my Sony 40XBR1 so the idea of running it on the Dell LCD went out the window. :D
