ok. I plan to build an HTPC in the next week...and i wanted to play around with powerstrip on my main machine to just learn how to use it and stuff....well..bad idea

i installed it and rebooted. and my pc won't boot anymore

oh BTW..i ran drivercleaner pro just before installing powerstrip (stupidly) to remove all my chipset drivers because the nvidia audio was having some trouble. could that have done anything??

it goes thru the post sequence and goes to where it says the previous boot failed and asks me if i wanna go to safe mode or anything....but anything i choose just makes it reboot

what can i do?? i can't reformat because i have some critical files on the HDD that CANNOT be lost....and there too big to copy to this HDD (20gb...the total file size is about 50GB on the borked install)

can anyone help me?

First try the "Last known good settings" option (tap F8 as the system boots). If that doesn't work then if you can boot into safe mode, use system restore to go back to a working point. If that doesn't work, run a repair install (google for intructions).

i know how to do a repair install...1 question

what will i lose if i do go that route?

repair install will only revert windows and drivers back to previous fresh install settings, all your other software should be ok though.
