A hard drive in my raid 0 array was failing, so I made an image backup of my windows 7 and planned to break the array, remove the defective drive, and install windows 7 on the working drive and using the image backup to restore everything to a normal state. Easy right?

Windows 7 installs fine, the computer restarts twice or so and does some configuring. But when it reaches the part of the install where you would confirm time/date and enter things like computer name, my screen remains black. There is no video signal reaching my monitor. Shutting down and booting in safe mode has video, but an error pops up saying configuration can not be done in safe mode and I must restart.

I've tried installing ati drivers through the windows 7 installer (with the have drivers option) but it won't accept the ati installer. All of the hardware aside from the removed hard drive is in working condition (was gaming on it 4 hours ago). The windows 7 cd is working and legit, I've used it to install the system before.

I've installed windows 7 about 4 times now, about to try the stripped down version of the ati drivers.

Anyone have any ideas?

Managed to get the secondary hard drive to stop flagging an error and re-imaged the raid setup with my backup. No permanent fix but at least I'm back where I started and able to play the bad company 2 beta in the morning :)
