HELP: ATI drivers will not install!

I was previously running Cat 3.3, I had downloaded 3.4, but never got around to installing them. I don't know why, but I dicided to check and see if there were newer drivers out, and I saw 5.5, so I downloaded them.

When I uninstalled the Cat 3.3 drivers, some error poped up, but it uninstalled anyway. When I try to install the new drivers, the first thing that pops up is this:

I click OK, and I get the ATI background screen, and then this:

I click OK again, and it keeps going like it's going to work, and I get to the license agreement screen and this is what it looks like:

I try to click back or no, but the only thing that does anyting is to click yes. Then finally I get this error and get dropped back to the desktop when I click OK:

I've tried running the cat-uninstaller.exe, but no luck. I even downloaded cat 3.4 again, but I get the same error with it and 3.3. I don't know what's happened, but now I'm stuck in 800x600 @60Hz and can't get anything done.
 
I would go into control panel->Add/Remove Programs and remove any ATI drivers and/or control panel that may still be present. You can also go into Device Manager and uninstall any display adapters that might be present. Then run driver cleaner and reboot. At that point, you can reinstall your new drivers and control panel.
 
I already removed the old ATI drivers and software from the control panel before trying to install the new drivers.

I just downloaded and ran Driver Cleaner Pro, but it didn't help. I've managed to manually install the drivers by going to divice manage and updating the unknown divices and browsing to the ati drivers that the setup extracted. I can't install the control panel, I get the same error as above.
 
Yes, that fixed it! I searched for the error number and aticim.dll, but didn't find anything.

Now I want to know how my Doc's and Setting/All Users/Desktop directory got deleted, and why this isn't in ATI's knowledge base if it's been a problem since Cat 4.3. :mad:
