Heatsinks & Thermalpads

So i have 4 heatsinks sitting here, they came with my Thermaltake Aluminum DDR Heat Spreaders. For the longest time i didn't know how i was going to apply them without somekind of adhesive/epoxy.

So i peeled one of the thermalpads back and i'm saying to myself, hows this going to stick? And me being retarted, did not see that it peels a 2nd time until yesterday.

Well i'm going to cut these bad boys down and put em to good use soon. So my question is, are these thermalpads really crap ? and should i buy some epoxy? or will they not fall off and do the job?
 
and if i use AS5 (which i have) they are going to fall off whatever i put them on.
 
AS5 isent an adhesive, you would need to get Arctic Silver epoxy if you want to stick them on something but that epoxy is never going to come off without ending the life of whatever you stuck it on. Thermal tape is great in that its easy to get off, but its not the best material to transfer heat. I used it on the memory on my 9800pro and the heatsinks definately get hot, Id say as long as your not using it on a cpu or gpu it should be sufficent to cool the chip down. The times ive used thermal tape ive never had it fall off, its pretty good about sticking

Thanks, thats EXACTLY what i was looing for.
 
im doing same thing. Just use the artic silver with small dabs of super glue in the corners. It will come off alot easier and not cost your $12 for the perm. epoxy. Hell, you may lose a very minute bit of heat trasfer due to the super glue but it wouldnt make a noticealbe difference. So do what i'm doing, get a $2 tube of super glue, use your existing AS5 and poof. The super glue/AS5 combo WILL be better than thermal pads any day.
 
np, and yeah ive heard of lots of people doing what gclg is doing, and although ive never done it myself, i think it works ok as nobody has anything bad to say about doing it :)
