Heatsink Problem

Hey guys.

Well, my CPU had a problem with temps since i play lots of games. So i decide to get a new Heatsink from Micro Center. I go there and pick up this http://www.evercool.com.tw/products/mag_01.htm - looks good and seems the right thing. so i come back home put it in. and turn on the computer. after 5 minutes in Windows the temp starts going a little up. just normal thing. but then when i m about to turn on my game, the comp just restarts for no damn reason. and it just wont start again, it boots till Windows XP logo and then restarts again. so i switch the heatsink and put the old one back in. and it works fine now. so the problem is that wats wrong with the new one. :( cannot understand.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

What type of CPU do you have (P3/4, Athlon (XP), Athlon 64) and how did you mount the HSF?
 
this doesnt look like a very good heatsink, id rather use the stock hsf. microcenter carries zalman 7000's you should have picked up one of those. did you apply any thermal compound?
 
hey guys.

CPU - Athlon XP 2000+

and yea. i got the thermal compound with the HS. so i applied that in the middle of the CPU - then mounted the HS on top and clipped it on.

** if u guys think this HSF is not good, then i could go back and return this and pick up one of the zalman's or something else.
