My heatercore bit the dust today, it somehow got corroded a hole in the side of it, and proceeded to leak into my case.

I found that heatercore on www.heatercore4u.com because they listed the measurements for differnet heatercores. That website, however, has since ceased to be. I am looking for a similar heatercore to the one i have, but i would like to dimensions to be slightly smaller.

How do you guys find the dimesions of heatercores now? I need a link to a good website.

well, my original was 10.75x6.25x2, and i want something a little smaller.

Im thinking something between 9.5x5.75 and 10.75x6 will fit a little better in my case. The width doesnt matter. The only catch is that i need something with the input and output both at one end, preferably sticking straight out from the end (not the direction of airflow) to work in my case.

how much differnce does the temp go down if i have a heatcore... then a regular rad lets say a black ice x .. thats the one with a 120mm fan can fit on it compaired to a heatcore of the same size?? ... if i got lets say 30C with the blackice what kinda temps with the heatcore... just a question. anyone know??

a black ice is just a painted heatercore, taking the paint off might give you a degree or two. getting another 120mm fan would help as well.

so there is no differnce between a heatcore and a radiator..? ohh just differnt names to call themm i c.. right?

a Heatercore comes from a vehicle, they are dirt cheap .. but normally require some modifying (removing the old barbs and replacing them with barbs that will accomodate the ID of your wc system). Radiators are just comercial alternatives to heatercores, companies like Danger Den simply remove the 'burden' of having to put the barbs on yourself, and paint it a pretty colour to try and attract ppl to spend ridiculously larger amounts of money on their rad (when the heatercore counterpart would have been just as good if not better .. for cheaper).

Thats not to say im ANTI rad or anything, I just ordered a D-Tek Procore for my wc setup, but I did so because i'm inept with my hands, and do not trust my ability to replace barbs in a leakfree manner, especially when it comes to expensive computer equipment. I had the money, so I spent it heh.

i found a listing of size vs. vehicle application on another website, and ended up going with an '82 chevy cavalier heatercore. Works great. Let me know if anyone needs the listing, its a zip file of two excel spreadsheets with all the info.
