My LAN CS clan will be going to buy the same exact shuttles with the same parts for future LANs such as CPL 2006. My concern is (since I'm the one ordering/making everything) will the small PSU be able to handle everything and will there be any heat issues?

Samsung 16x DVD +/-RW
19 ACER LCD monitor

Other than gaming, I plan on leaving this computer on when i'm at school/work, either idling irc channels or downloading stuff.
 
the power supply is plenty fine for that setup. As for heat, I have an x800xt and there are only heat issues because it was shipped with a broken fan but I know people that have the same exact setup as me and they are fine. Seeing as 6600s run cooler than x800xts I can say that heat will not be an issue either. Happy lanning.

One question is, how can a 240watt power supply be able to handle a gfx that needs at recommends at least 400watt (if this doesn't concern the x800xt, what about the 6800's?)
 
shuttle power supplies and the way things are designed in a shuttle are different from regular PCs. I don't know the exact reason why things work out that way but trust me, there is more than enough power.
 
Well I can kind of give you an answer based on what I have been told by other people. The 240watt psu's in the shuttle provide more consistent power than other full case psu's because they are quality built. A no name psu that comes with a case is not always built using the highest quality parts and it doesn't actually always serve up the amount of power that it says that it does all the time, but the companies that make the smaller psu's like the one that powers shuttle SFF computers, as well as after market psu’s; actually do serve the amount of power that they are rated to serve all of the time thus being fully capable of powering any 6800 and other components the shuttle may have. The person who I have heard this from told me that his company (DriveSoft) which makes computer kits for cars builds it’s own psu units that are only rated at 150watts, but that those 150watt psu’s could power a computer system that would require a 500watt psu.
