Heads up - Intel C-series Atom B0 have a fatal flaw - may die ~18mo use. Synology 1818+ too.

I know there are at least a few of us using the Supermicro A1SAi or the ASRock equivalent in here. Looks like Intel has a fatal flaw in a pair of the clock pins that means they may simply kick the bucket after 18 months. There's no easy microcode fix as it's an actual flaw in the hardware, so yay for that. All sources say it's the B0 stepping, but it also looks like that's the ~only~ stepping in the field so far (until they roll out a fixed version, if they do...) so pretty much everyone may have one (I'm digging through ARK to see if there are any other steppings). Average lifespan seems to be around 18 months, which is right where I'm at on 2 of my 3 boards, so we'll see what happens - mine are under pretty low load most of the time, so I've got my fingers crossed.

Note: This also affects anything that has these chips in it, obviously - which means things like the Synology 1818+, some Cisco ASAs, etc. Synology is apparently stepping up and replacing hardware if it fails, which is awesome.

Errata note AVR.54, titled "System May Experience Inability to Boot or May Cease Operation," explains that the Atom C2000 Low Pin Count bus clock outputs (LPC_CLKOUT0 and LPC_CLKOUT1) may stop functioning. Permanently.
