ok, im completely lost when it comes to purchasing "quality" headphones..
i currrently own these : note, i dont have an ipod, ive had these buds for maybe 1 year
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16826159414
sennheiser mx500s

now, they're pretty good; but i live in new york and you can imagine the amounts of noise i get through my music sometimes walking through the street. another problem is that the bass feels a little weak for my taste, i want something a little stronger.
quality is paramount. im willing to shell out a decent amount of money for a good set of headphones/buds whatever the heck you call them

only rule:
NO active noise cancelers please

now, im looking for something like these?

opinions/help?/recommendations?
thanks in advance..

id say around 100 tops?

how about you give me a range of products :)

under 20 bucks, KSC-75, recable them, kramer mod them, do whatever you want with them...

but, since you want better isolation and stronger bass, the AKG k81 DJ would be a nice fit, which can be found on ebay for $55 dollars from fplstore if you make them an offer.
here

for $109 you could get westone UM1 IEMs, which would isolate much better than the others of course

and if you don't care about isolation (which is not the case) then alessandro MS-1s would be very very nice for $100

that's what i say

If you would rather stay with headphones, you might also want to consider Sennheiser HD-280 Pros. I've seen them for as low as $75. They are circumaral (around the ear), have great noise attenuation and very good bass. They will sound even better after being broken in.

My two cents worth...

I've got a pair of CX300b's which I use with my iRiver and I couldn't be happier with their performance. They sound worlds better than the stock earbuds, and their bass is pretty good overall. And better still, they isolate me from the freakishly loud music at the gym up here, so I can definitely give them a thumbs up overall :)
