Sorry if this is in the wrong forum - it should probably go in the Electronics sub-forum, but I wanted to get more exposure on this...

I know that most audio cards and cases with front audio components have some form of detection in the jacks; so when you plug in your headphones it will disable audio going to the speakers... what I'm trying to figure out is how to actually wire this up myself.

I'm not the best at reading schematics, but I'm sure I can figure it out. My problem right now is actually finding reading material online to help me figure this out.

I did find this jack at MCM Electronics. http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/27-5540&t=1. The name of the jack alone gives me some hope that it might be what I need... but I'm not sure.

The alternative for me would be to just wire up two jacks to a switch, with one input. So if I want my headphones on I flip the switch one way and the other way for my speakers.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!
