I am looking to upgrade this here laptop that comes with a celeron 633. According to "teh intarwebs' i can put up to a 1.1 ghz PIII in it. even going from the 633 Celery to a 733 PIII, I worry the heat might be too much; these compaqs dont have the best thermal dissapation system. So does anyone have any idea how much the heat scales? Also, does anyone have a link to the huge chart that has CPU wattage outputs?
 
kronchev, Intel doesn't even show a mobile Celeron 633 in their s-spec charts, just in the desktop procs. Does your laptop use a desktop Celeron using socket 370 perhaps?

Anyways, this is the page I go to when I want to find out what power is used by various processors. They cover just about every modern era x86 proc that's been produced, I believe.

According to the chart there a desktop Celeron 633 can use up to 20.2 watts of power depending on the stepping. The P3 1.1/100 fsb cD0 procs used 33 watts of power.

Looking at Intel's s-spec finder for desktop Celerons , they show a thermal guideline of 16.5 watts for the 633 Celerons in all steppings.
