HDTV Suggestion

I am putting together a home theater for my basement we are finishing up. And i am stuck on which Display to purchase. I am looking for something ~61" or greater. I can spend about $2500 - $3500. I was looking fat Pioneer DLPs because I have been told that they are they best DLP guys. Would you guys suggest that i go to LCD or Plasma instead? Which LCD/Plasma would you guys suggest? I would like 1080p since i have a PS3, and since the TV is going to be pretty big. I want high end that in the end i will be happy with my buying decision.

Basically, i just don't want to regret my purchase, and i want to be happy.
 
I'd suggest going with a projector if possible. I have the Mitsubishi HD1000u with a 96" diy screen and love it. I'ts a 720p DLP projector for under $900. I got it to hold me over for a couple years until the 1080p pj's come down in price from their current $3k -5k pricetags.
