I am looking to be purchasing a new HDTV around November this year and am wondering what is the best model in the 40" category for blu-ray playback and pc usage (gaming/text). I do sit 5-7 feet from the Display and can increase the DPI if i find text to be less than ledgible. I currently am using a 37RV530U Toshiba Regza but am gifting it to my parents for Xmas. Ne recommendations would be great. Right now i'm looking at the Samsung LN40B750. My budget is < $1,500 and would like to keep it below that if possible.

I'd also look at the Panasonic plasmas, which would have superior viewing angles...

See AVS Forum for HDTVs.
For about 1,500+ you can get the top quality 50" plasma Panasonic TC-P50V10.
40" LCD is nothing next to it for blu-ray.
For about 1,500 you can buy a very good 50" PG10/PG15 plasmas (no 24p though) and get it professionally calibrated. Both are way above Samsung LCDs for blu-ray.

It depends on how serious you are about blu-ray. If you are a demanding person, and watching blu-ray prevails over games/text - you get mentioned plasmas (50" is not much!) and follow IR precautions for text/games.

If text/games prevail (let's say, more than 1 hour of typing, and/or or more than 2 hours of internret per day) - then an LCD is more reasonable.
The Samsung LN40B750 is OK for games/text, but it's way down for blu-ray.
