I purchased two Acer X233Hbid monitors about a month ago, and was wondering if I should invest in a couple of HDMI to DVI cables, would I see any difference in picture quality/would there be enough of a difference to make it cost effective?

Thanks

DVI and HDMI will give you the same picture quality.

Also - Its probably not worth it to buy a hdmi to dvi cable but a converter instead. Chances are the cable is more costly.

The prices won't be too different. Monoprice has cheap cables and adapters.

I think there might be vendor specific adapters. Some video card can take SPDIF signal and send them straight to the sound card.

cable is better since you won't have a dongle hanging out the back of the computer with a flimsy hdmi connector plugged into it.

Clarification: The cables themselves will give the same picture quality, however some monitors behave differently on different inputs. The most usual issue is with overscan on HDMI, but sometimes the issue could be with DVI as well.

But if you don't notice anything wrong, and you haven't heard anything specific regarding your monitor, you should just use what works for you right now.

Thanks for the responses guys, I think I'll just hold off unless something comes up.
