Right now i have the 8600GTS from evga. I'm thinking HDMI should give me better results as far as video quality goes as I have a 1080 Sony LCD.

Any recommendations would be awesome

Just grab a DVI to HDMI adapter? The signal going through them is the same, its just the HDMI can carry audio.

That should work fine. Alternatively you can grab a radeon 4350 card and since it has a hdmi audio chip on it you can run audio to the tv that way. The nvidia cards can pass audio through dvi to hdmi as well but the sound card must support a spd/if cable whereas the readeon cards have an actual chip on the card. One quick note I believe the 8600gts cards do not support audio over hdmi since I think the card came out before nvidia decided to add that.

Agree.... I think teh radeon cards are very good if you are a windows user. For Linux, I would still go for nvidia.
