Hi i need some help i want to upgrade my hdd but im not sure what i should get either Maxtor DiamondMax 10 250GB or Raptor 74GB if someone could tell me the pros and cons of each drive and how they perform against each other that would make it so much easier to decide on what i should get.

Thanks Nos :)

Capacity : DiamondMax > Raptor
Price/GB : DiamondMax > Raptor
Noise : DiamondMax > Raptor
Heat : DiamondMax > Raptor
Speed : Raptor > DiamondMax

Now firgure out what's most important to you and then buy one :)

If you can wedge everything into ~70GB (or have a storage drive), and don't mind shelling out over $150 for that limited capacity, then WD740GD is still the fastest drive going on ATA. Maxtor's 16MB drives are the next choice in performance and get picked up by those whom the above statements do not apply to.

Also, the WD740GD runs cooler than a 3 platter Maxtor drive, according to SR. Otherwise, listen to what kbong said.
