HDD Trasnsfer Speed -- Extremely Low

Hello,

I am having Seagate ST2000DM001 2TB 7200RMP drive (Latest Model), and when I checked transfer speed via HDTune I was shocked to see its too low.

The disk is fully defragmented and healthy but I must admit its full with only 100GB free space.

So is ti because its filled so much I am getting such low transfer speeds?
Also, please suggest me atleast 2 diff .software tht can show how many platters & heads does the drive contain.

Other than the spikes the HD tune results look fine to me unless this is a drive with 2 x 1TB platters. In that case your entire graph is about 30 MB/s low.

Is any other software using this disk (like the OS or antivirus)?

You looked at the SMART raw data for reallocated sectors, current pending sectors, UltraDMA CRC Error count ...?

try with CrystalDisk Mark... but also you have to be sure you aren't running any heavy background app before make any test.. things like for example steam, tend to draw some amount of performance during test..
 
Ok I guess its normal as you all say so, but the Minimum transfer rate still makes me nervous as its extremely low...

Did you check the SMART and also verify anything was not using the disk during the test? Remember that if this was an OS disk this is pretty much expected because it is difficult to get windows to stop using a drive for long enough to test.

Yup thats right, even any antivirus firewall in background will affect any result..
 
Alright thx all for their replies, I agree that antivirus and other few things do keep on running in background as its an OS drive.

BTW, do leme knw software tht can show how many platters & heads does the drive contain.
