I failed on my first attempt at a hard drive window. The bios detects the HD, but I get a blue screen when booting Win2K. Luckily it was an old SCSI. :)

Immediately after opening the HD I put it in a plastic baggy and sealed it. I wonder what wrong wrong. How do you guys suggest keeping the inside clean? Or was I just unlucky... :confused: :( :eek:

you MIGHT have killed it with the static bag... When I tried this I vacuumed out an anti-static bag (dust = bad) and placed it inside.

It was an old 20gb drive that, after the mod, worked fine... But, it was so frigging loud and slow that I threw it out anyways :D
 
You threw it out!? You should have sent it to me. :p

I'll try and anti-static bag next time. When I open the plastic baggy the sides were sticking to each other so it was very "staticky" I have a couple more old SCSI hard drive laying around that I can try this with again sometime.

Any more safety precautions I should know about?

The thing was a good 50db... A high pitched whine noise too. (yes, even before the mod lol). It was, honestly, the worst drive ever.
