ive tried everything to get the HD led's to work on my raidmax scorpio 868w case. Ive tried connected it to every possible pin on the header where i connected the power and reset switches(they both work fine). im pretty new to case modding so if any one could help i would appriciate it.

leds are polarized, meaning they only work when the current is flowing in one direction (unlike light bulbs). try reversing the leads?

what do u mean by reversing? there is only one led connector, the blue led in the front works fine because it connects to a 4 pin molex, do u mean like connect it upside down? i dunno im very new to all of this stuff.

yeah, flip the connector over and plug it into the hd led connector on the motherboard

no, it wont, Like some one above said

LEDs are polorized, which means that they have a + and a - side, you have to plug them in so that the + side matches up with the + connector on your mother board, and so that the - side matches up with the ground pin on the motherboard.

how are you determing what way is upside down?
by the writing on the connector?

yes, i was determining it by the writing, but does it say where the + and - are on the connector itself?

Red wire is +
Black wire is -
But that's not always the case since my Antec has different color cables (Blue and White) instead of the red/black.

can you see which header on the mobo is the right one? most of the time they are marked with HDD or something similar. Some older and/or proprietary mobos have three pins and the +/- are the first and third pins. To match this, the case had a three pin wide connector but with only two wires. You usually see only two wide for LEDs but look around on the Mobo to see if its labeled. I have had to splice a new connector from a junk case in order to replace a proprietary DELL mobo in a friends new case.

ok, i finally got it, i need to flip it upside down so the red side faced +. i would of never thought of it since my case didnt come with directions and my mobo manual was pretty hard to understand. thanks for the help guys.

Thats amusing.. perhaps its one of those 2 colored ones..
My compaq power led was reversable.. green/red wehn polarities are switched..

There are some super bright blue LEDs I ordered from FrozenCPU. I want to use 1 for power indicator and two (at the same time) for HDD activity. They are meant to be used for this purpose... 3.3V ones. I wonder if the HDD activity header on the mobo can power two LEDs at once. In parallel. Or, alternatively, I could use a 5V molex to power two leds in series, and then only hook up one to HDD activity header.
