Hello haven't posted in a while but I have the sb65g2 shuttle adn its having a problem turning off.
The shuttle works like a champ all the time, except when it comes to turning off, it just sits there with the fans running at full speed with everything else completly shut off.

It's running some pc2700 kingston value ram with a 2.4 prescott, umm an audigy platinum and an 80 gig 8 meg cache hard drive.

thats about all the hardware in it except an all in wonder 8500.

If anyone can help me get this thing to shut off without having to pull the plug I would be very gratefull.

Dang no one else seems to have this problem?
I have to manually unplug the shuttle to get it to shut off all the way adn when i stick the power cord back in it starts up as soon as it gets power.
It still doesn't start up though it just sits in like a hibernation mode sort of.

check where the powerbutton and leds connect to the mobo it might not be pluged in right...

Check the BIOS to see what kind of power management it is set to. It might not be set right to allow windows to power off.

Yea windows is shutting down completly , i can even hear the hard drive spin down , just the power to the fans are on as far as i can tell.

I checked in hte bios for some sneaky settings but none of them looked odd, any that you guys know of that would cause that?

Thanks a ton for replying at least guys heh.

This could be a USB device forcing your machine not to shut down. Do you happen to have anything attached to a USB hub, or, do you have a USB keyboard? Try unplugging them from the box and attempting your shutdown. I've seen where a misbehaving USB device will do exactly what you are describing.

The other possibility is that some of the earlier Shuttles had a power button issue in that when they are glued into place on the faceplate, the button is actually stuck in a contact position. Remove the faceplate, remove the power button and check the button assembly. IF it is permenantly pushed in (stuck on), simply cleaning the glue off of it and re-applying using a gluegun to seat the button back to the faceplate will fix this.

hmm thanks for the reply I'll check on those right away, as for any usb devices being plugged in, it does have the onboard wireless which i belive is usb.
Hmm the only thing that is wierd is that it didn't do this whole power shutdown issue until
a little while ago, as I've had it for about 3 months i think.

Do you happen to use the wirless? It is possible that something with the device died on you.

Also, check the button and make sure that it's not pushed in by seeing if you can manually shut the shuttle off by pushing the power button (you can do this during POST or booting to DOS). If it still doesn't shut down while holding in the power button, its a defective button.

the buttom will turn the shuttle off, but then the thing is still technically on.
As for the wireless, yea I use it but i have had a problem since day one with it only connecting to my 802.11g wireless router at 2 mbs.
hmm thanks for the info so far guys.
