This is my first post here so let me say hello to everyone reading this and looking to maybe help me with my computer issues.
As for me I'm normally a console gamer more then i used to be because its more easy to deal with all my PC experience comes from salvaging systems and this time I picked up a custom built PC from my brother, which he didn't want cause he built a whole new system
Now the build includes a DFI KT400A Inifinty / LANParty KT400A motherboard with a CPU Type AMD Athlon XP, 1917 MHz (11.5 x 167) 2600+ CPU (using Everest for all this) I have swapped the HD, Power Supply, DVD-RW drive and RAM as well as taken out things like his old capture card and anything else that wasn't necessary
So I'm looking a MB or CPU or maybe even a driver issue in this case from what i beleave. I want to learn about using raid systems and custom builds before I sink money into my own build.
The only problem my brother knew about was the shot HD whch i had replaced cince I picked it up a few days ago.
-THE PROBLEM(S)-
My main issue is when I am running windows and begin using up resources the PC shuts off (Drives and PSI slots) from what i can tell (no power to those areas) but all LED lights and fans still run no blue screens, also I have to shut it down manualy after this happans.
Once it reboots it apears information is still saved because firefox will still leave off at whatever site I left off at, I was thinking it could be a configuration issue so I already cleared the CMOS and reset the bios, with this MB and what I know about it I am running the pre-configured setup (one was fail-safe the other is what I have the settings on right now I beleave its performance but not sure)
One other issue I have is the sound, everything suggests Realtek AC'97 audio drivers for my "Audio Adapter C-Media CMI9739(A) @ VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller" (copy and paisted from Everest) but with the realtek I get an error code 10, no responce from any audio settings. If I go with the VIA AC'97 WDM driver it does apear to function right but I get no sound what-so-ever wich leads me to think do I have a bad ground wire on the motherboard?
I know this is a complicated issue and I'm not working with much but this is more of a trial and error kind of deal for me untill I know what I'm working with so I don't run into as many bumps when I do put money down for a stable system
