Strange thing is HL2 plays fine. Could my far cry instalation got borked somehow?
Reinstalled drivers, no change. There are no newer drivers.

thanks

it's probably just your GPU refusing to perform for such an outdated game. Maybe felt a little patronised.

Forgot to say I'm triple booting xp, vista and 7. There is no graphical anomalies on any OS.

FC played fine with this card for 3 months.
try a different game. looks like the card though
HL2 plays fine.

Games are only installed on XP. I uninstalled ATI tray tools and it just ran fine. ATT is very buggy. I need another tweak utility that can show temps and framerates. Any suggestions?

I'm getting artifacts in all maps now. I'll pull the card and reset and clean any dust off. If that don't work its going back to Diamond.

You said you reinstalled your drivers, but did you reinstall the game? I would guess its the game, maybe overheating but you said it plays other games fine so.

I don't overclock. Its against my computational principles.

What he's recommending is underclocking. This is a great way to see if the GPU or memory is going bad.

When my X800XT started artifacting, that is what I did. After simply lowering the memory clock by 10 MHz, to 490 MHz, all artifacts disappeared and I was able to use that card for another year until it was time to upgrade.

I restored my XP drive from a image I had from August. No tearing or artifacts anymore, cool.
Either I screwed some settings up in ati tray tools or far cry got corrupted somehow, don't know. I do know True Image is kick ass. Thanks for the help.
