No, I didnt actually get the SMART message in the title, but...
Yesterday I was trying to access some shares on my file server and could not connect, I went directly to it to check and see what was up. The PC was up and running just fine, and it had been for the last two weeks or so (rebooted after latest patching from MS)
When I checked My Computer, two of the hard disks were not present, I then checked disk management and did not see them either.
So I thought, great two hard disks failures at the same time, what gives? (previous SMART reports show them as healthy and no weird noises or anything) Both are IDE, but I cant remember right now if they are on the same channel or not (will check when i get home)
I rebooted and both reapeared and passed SMART just fine. (other tests look fine as well) no bad sectors or anything after chkdisk
What could be the causes of TWO HDD's dissapearing at the same time for no reason?
A possible motherboard IDE channel going? (no overclock)
Specs:
3500+
MSI Neo2
1gig PC3700
6800GT
HDD's (none in RAID)
1x Seagate 160gig IDE <- dissapeard until reboot
1x WD 200gig IDE
1x Maxtor 250gig IDE <- dissapeard until reboot
1x 200gig Maxtor IDE
1x 300gig Maxtor SATA
1x Seagate 300gig SATA
thanks
