Hardware Cost

Well this is sort of about hardware, it deals with one aspect of it. Does anyone know how I could find out the "cost" prices of computer hardware? The price before the stores mark it up. I'm suspecting that I can't unless I have access to a store's database.

There's no real point in knowing this. All it's going to do is piss you off when you see what you actually have to pay.

Well I was curious because I can get a discount where I pay cost+10% on computer products (hardware and software), but I have no real way of knowing that price.

well there is no normal mark-up its really hard to tell and no company would willingly give out this info.

I don't know if this will work but i guess you could:
-Find out the companys annual profit
-Then find out the number that they've sold during the year
-Multiply by the average price by the number that they've sold
-Subtract the annual profit from the price * number total
-Divide the number that you're left with by the number that they've sold

What you get is a rough estimate

Except that markups are different for different items. They might have a 500% markup on usb cables but a 2% markup on video cards.

True, but you would get an average price. This would apply if you looks at an average (mainstream) product that the company sells
