I'm pretty sure that I'm having some harddisk problems. I recently installed a SATA 250gb Western Digital SE16 harddrive and transferred over a bunch of my data and games. Specifically I put World of Warcraft on it. When I'm playing that game and I move into a new area often times the whole thing will freeze up on me repeating whatever sound was last playng and stay that way for about 30 seconds when all of sudden it stops and everything is fine. To me it looks like whenever new data needs to get pulled from the harddrive the whole thing stutters.
I also got this when trying to watch a movie while also doing a virus scan. Now I've done virus scans before on this computer while watching movies and I've played a hell of a lot of Warcraft and neither one before installing this harddrive would cause this kind of stuttering.
In an attempt to fix the harddrive I tried to run Chkdsk on the drive. It will go through 3 of the 5 stages without issue, then at the 4th stage it will not move past 0% no matter how long I let it stay like that. I've been trying to get chkdsk to start on that drive before windows loads hoping that might help. However so far I've not found a way to get chkdsk to do that. I've run chkntfs /c but that didn't help any. I also don't have a working floppy drive on this computer.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
